We are working on the development of a live fire training facility at our headquarters station in Wintersville. The building will be the only one of its kind in Jefferson, Belmont, and Harrison counties and will be available for use by firefighters from those counties. Local firefighters currently travel over 90 minutes to Wayne County to take their certification testing and this building will allow them to do that locally using their own equipment and saving travel expenses.
Encino Energy was the first to financially support this project when they recently presented us with a check for $20,000. We want to say a special "Thank You" to Jackie Stewart of Encino for taking the time to learn about the project and then working hard to acquire the funding for us! We will be making additional announcements about support for this project in the near future.
We are pleased to announce the second major donation to the fire training facility that we will be building soon for area firefighters. We have been awarded $50,000.00 from the Charles M. & Thelma M. Pugliese Charitable Foundation. As a result of this award, we have agreed to name the facility "The Pugliese Fire Training Center". We would like to sincerely thank the Board of Directors of the Pugliese Foundation for taking the time to understand the project and for realizing its importance to our area fire departments and firefighters. We hope to make additional announcements of donations in the near future.
Local companies or persons who may be interested in helping, either thru in-kind services or financial contributions, are encouraged to contact Fire Chief Rob Herrington via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the fire station at 740-264-4811.
